This is a carved wooden cattle bell with wooden clapper and beautiful brown-dark patina. Cattle are at the foundation of the Maasai way of life. A man's wealth is measured by his cattle and his wives. The morran, the endlessly admired young warriors, take care of the cattle. The sides of the Ngorongoro crater are dotted with Maasai morran in their bright red plaid blankets, taking their cattle down the hillside.
