Banjara necklace, population of Afghan origin.
According to B. G. Halbar, the word Banjara is derived from the Sanskrit phrase "vana chara" (wanderers in the jungle).
Motiraj Rathod believes that this community became known as Banjara around the 14th century AD, but previously had some association with the Laman, which claims a history of 3,000 years.
